Welcome to Stevens F. Johnson's
Summer 2003 NRAO Chautauqua Gallery

Prof. Johnson attended two three-day Chatauqua seminars in May and July 2003, on the sites of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory's (NRAO) two main installations at Green Bank, West Virginia (May) and Socorro, New Mexico (July). The Green Bank location is home to the biggest fully steerable fixed radio telescope dish in the world, the new 300 foot GBT (Green Bank Telescope). The Very Large Array (VLA), in Socorro, consists of 27 individual 82-foot radio dishes spread over an area 22 miles in diameter.
